I think the use of the QR codes creates an interesting correspondence between page and screen or print and digital. I believe the QR codes reveals one of many sides of the relationship between print and digital; to elaborate, I believe that by using the QR codes, we are able to force the reader to literally interact with both the page and the screen. However, this design is a little problematic due primarily to the fact that the reader must have access to the internet in order to read the text which is embedded in the QR code.

The English nerd in me wants to argue that page will prevail over screen. However, when considering things in a logical manner, I believe that the prevailing of screen over page is inevitable. I think there is value in both printed and digital literature; I also think– as we have been discussing in this class– that there is value in the interaction between the page and the screen. However, I think in this day and age, printed literature is far more at risk than digital literature. Especially among the members of this newer generation, it seems as though printed literature will soon be phased out of our lives.

I’m not at all familiar with any types of “code.” I’ve been really interested in the use of the QR code for Between Page and Screen; I think for the most part it was a really effective and a creative way to present the relationship between printed and digital literature. With my completely nonexistent knowledge of code, my suggestion for a different correspondence between page and screen is through Snapchat; Snapchat is a really interesting platform because it combines the mediums of pictures and text. I think it would be interesting because printed literature can include pictures, not just words. It would be interesting to see how an author could create a correspondence between page and screen with a different form of printed literature.
