About Me!

Hello!

I have many interests in addition to reading and writing; I love spending time outside hiking, camping, or simply reading a book. I’m not much of a winter person, but during the summer, I love to spend as much time as possible either in the mountains or at any lake with my family. I love animals and love working with animals; I actually volunteer at a horse rehabilitation center every week. At the rehab center, I work with several horses to strengthen any injuries (physical or not) that they might have incurred before arriving; we play games, exercise, and get familiar and comfortable with various common objects such as halters, ropes, and other human inventions.

I chose to take this class because as an English major, I am highly disinterested in spending any time doing math. I do, however, need to fulfill my QB math requirement, and out of all my options, I thought this course sounded like it would be the most interesting. Until now, I had never heard of the digital humanities; I am super intrigued and excited to learn more about this area of the world of literature. I think that as someone who eventually wants to become an educator, learning as much as I possibly can about the digital world and how it can and does relate to the English language is absolutely necessary. As we mentioned in class today, although the classic methods of studying English and its classic, successful authors such as Shakespeare, Chaucer, and etc. are effective, valid, and important, it is also important to expand our horizons to match the times. By the time I enter the classroom, technology, social media, and other aspects of the digital age will have developed and grown even more than it already has today. I believe that in order to become an effective educator, I must be able to use the digital tools and materials that are present and accessible in our world today.

I am looking forward to being a part of this class and learning all about the world of digital humanities. Here’s to Spring 2019’s ENGL 2095!
